Our Mission

Empower every business to have perfect financial clarity.

Today, accounting data is fragmented across systems. Excel files largely play the role of a software stack. The manual workload is immense.

The result? Accountants are overworked (and fleeing the profession) and businesses operating off of week’s old financial data every month.

We believe the root cause is a massive data problem. By solving this data problem, we can effectively lift every accountant’s role one or two layers of abstraction up from where it is today. As a result, every organization will be able to make stronger decisions with real-time access to their financial data.

Why Accounting?

Our Values

We aim to be the best place for the best people to work.

brick by brick

The only way that we beat incumbents multiple magnitudes our size is with complete focus on execution. To win in this market, our team needs to show up and execute in each domain every day. We ideate, but know that action is our advantage.

Love the game

This is not a place for people who view a “job as a job”. This is place where there’s focus on the craft and a deep sense of giving a f*ck. We want to work at a company full of people who are engaged and care both about the work and the magic of working on a team full of equally motivated people.

Own the Outcome

Each member of our team is responsible for the impact of their role, we extend autonomy, we own our results. We typically hire “business-building athletes” and give them large mandates with high-trust. Engineers are responsible not just for code, but for ensuring the product is solving the end problems of the users. Marketers are not just responsible for blog posts or campaigns, but driving pipeline numbers.

SALY

At Numeric, we refuse to accept the common audit refrain, “Same As Last Year.” For too long, accounting and finance systems have reflected outdated processes instead of re imagining what’s possible. We’re driven by a first-principles approach to building better solutions.

Earn the Right

Tackle a project, deliver excellent work, and your scope will grow. We believe in rapid progression for team members that have illustrated that they can handle increasingly challenging problems. We hire for slope, not y-intercept.

Engineering at Numeric

At Numeric, engineers own problems end to end — every engineer works directly with a team of internal accountants and directly interacts with users to inform product decisions. We believe the best infrastructure comes from being close to the problem.

We hold a high bar: we hire the top 1% of engineers and expect rigor in everything from system design to product decisions.

This is a place for product-engineers that want broad impact and visibility across the business. It’s where deep systems thinking, fast iteration, and a high-autonomy environment come together to build tools that leading finance teams rely on.

We take our work seriously, not ourselves.

We think big

The entire company comes together for a company-wide offsite each year, to think bigger, work across functions, and enjoy the team.

We're having fun

We have an un-official company mascot — Eric Num, a robot lamp, with a written backstory and weekly emoji drops.

We work in-person 5 days a week

We find we’re more productive solving ambiguous problems (and plus, it’s nice to eat lunch with your coworkers).

Every Numerican receives a passport

And accumulates stamps for key milestones, some serious (like revenue records) and some silly (like winning against a co-founder at foosball).

If I imagine a solution to a problem, I can act on it. If I have a unconventional idea I truly believe will work, there’s no barrier to bringing it to life. Being able to run with ideas and have the trust and autonomy to experiment is exactly what I want at work. And I laugh a lot. Big bonus.”

Tierney
Head of Marketing, SF

As a former auditor and product operations manager, I’ve seen how disjointed finance workflows can be.

One of the best parts of my role is being at the intersection of customer feedback and product innovation. I work closely with customers to understand their challenges, test solutions firsthand, and collaborate with our EPD team to shape tools that solve real-world problems. That constant feedback loop keeps me excited about what we’re building.

One of the most surprising (and refreshing) things about working here is how much trust is given to engineers. At many companies, shipping a feature means navigating multiple layers of approval. Here, you own your work end-to-end. When you decide it’s ready, you have the power to deploy it.”
