Careers at Numeric

We’re building the first real-time financial data platform.

Our goal is to enable businesses to make stronger decisions from their underlying accounting data — and in doing so, transform accountants into true strategic advisors.

And we’ve assembled a pretty great group of people to get us there.

What we do

Let’s be honest — not everyone gets excited immediately about accounting.

The truth is while sales, marketing, product, and engineering teams have had their pick of great software to help with their work, much of accounting is still done manually in Excel sheets.

That’s exactly why we’re excited — there’s a wide open space to build great products in and truly transform the industry. As opposed to making something 5% better, we’re in the rare arena where we can make something 100% to 200% better & faster.

Starting with the month-end close, we’ve built and are continuing to invest in a suite of tools to help accountants automate the manual and inform business decisions with financial data.

Who we are

We have experienced founders and are fortunate to be well funded and be backed by great investors, including Founders Fund, Long Journey Ventures, and many founders and CFOs.

We are a small team and we plan on staying that way. We make tradeoffs to ensure that our team can operate with few distractions and maximal time for deep work.

Life at Numeric

We take business building seriously. We don’t take ourselves too seriously.

We’re above average at the foosball table.

Every other Thursday we explore a new lunch spot downtown near our SF office— but our favorite is squarely breakfast burritos at Il Canto.

We bring the NYC & SF office together roughly every quarter for brainstorming, hackathons, and some good ole bonding.

Our values

We look for entrepreneurs — often those who have founded companies or want to, are invested in functions beyond their own, and think deeply about how problems should be solved versus rolling out tried and true playbooks.

Trust & Autonomy

We are a small team with big ambitions. Speed is our advantage and we maximize it by equipping everyone with the knowledge, tools, and support to make important decisions and take ownership of their work.

As a result, we get a lot more done than people expect us to.

Continuous Improvement

We care deeply about shortening the time to value for what we build and move quickly to release product and features.

How we hire reflects this value as well.
A little bit of slope makes up for a lot of y-intercept.

Curiosity

Finance and accounting systems need a first-principled rethink. The ways in which we differentiate our product, company, and culture will be defined by our ability to challenge conventions and consistently embody a learning mindset.

All team members engage with our customers and take an active role in identifying opportunities to define solutions & improve our product.

Written Communication

We emphasize strong documentation and a scientific approach to evaluating and addressing problems. We believe a culture of writing promotes systematic thinking, creates shared institutional knowledge, and drives alignment of plans & priorities.

Our team loves working here

Building amazing products is the most important part of the engineering team. There are very few barriers to shipping, building, and continually improving your process.  We’re taking the backbone of accounting and finance and rethinking how we can build something that works for everyone.

As a former Controller, I have experienced how impactful a software like Numeric can be to accounting & finance teams.

What drew me to Numeric specifically is how the company is trying to fundamentally change how teams work and collaborate with one another. Whether that is through meaningful incorporation of AI or proactively monitoring transactions to provide you alerts before month-end close, the team has made some great product decisions that make me really excited to be a part of this.

I love getting feedback from our customers and having the ability to directly influence our product roadmap.

If I imagine a solution to a problem, I can act on it. If I have a unconventional idea I truly believe will work, there’s no barrier to bringing it to life. Being able to run with ideas and have the trust and autonomy to experiment is exactly what I want at work. And I laugh a lot. Big bonus.
